Located along East coast road, at 17.7Kms from Chennai, the site had a unique programmatic requirement – to design two individual villas (for two siblings) that are distinct yet interactive. We have experimented with the two volumes which communicate both spatially and visually. The villas encompass a 4BHK, a home theatre each and a common swimming pool. Project completed on April, 2016.

DESIGN CONSIDERATION
The main design challenges where to Create maximum privacy between the villas without compromising on the interactiveness between them. To create unique characteristics for both the villas, yet maintaining a connectivity through spaces like swimming pool, projected bedrooms and an interlinking bridge.
DESIGN CONCEPT AND PROCESS
The design utilizes holding hands together as the design concept. The Two volumes are raised on the site and cut through parallel curves, thus creating a unique form where the in-between spaces interact seamlessly. Common programmes like landscaped garden, swimming pool have been incorporated in this enclosure. To create a self-shading mechanism for the in-between common space, the bedroom has been cantilevered at the first level. The blocks are then connected not only in the Ground level, but also in the terrace floor, through a bridge, thus completing the interactivity of the concept.
DESIGN FEATURES
The dynamic feature walls are evident and induce an interactive space between the two volumes that are experienced at all levels. This creates a lively ambience and sight from both interior and exterior. A wall free environment with maximum privacy achieved. Double height space to bring in skylight for both the villas.
MASSING
Independent villas but with similar language and an independent identity Contrast colours have been used in façade and material which go in line with the surrounding. Stone cladded dynamic wall adds feature to the massing.
APROACH
